Narmada Park


One of the most interesting places in Lombok Island is Narmada Park. Narmada Park is famous in Lombok Island. The beauty of it comes from the park and the pool. The visitors will enjoy the peaceful and the fresh air here. That’s why; Narmada Parks become a good choice to visit. If you come to Lombok Island, you will fell uncompleted if don’t visit this park.

Like the name, this park is located in Narmada, Lembuak village, Narmada Districk, West Lombok Regency. It’s about 10 kilometers from Mataram city. If you come here, you will enjoy the great view.

From the history, this park had been built by King Anak Agung Ngurah Karangasem, he is a king of Karangasem Kingdom. So the atmosphere in this park is same like the park in Karangasem, Bali Province. The King built this park as a place of ceremony Pakelem held every full moon Caka fifth year (October-November). Narmada Park was also used as a resting place of the royal family during the dry season. Beside provide the beauty view, it also has historical value.


 Generally this park has some facilities; they are pool, park, and the water flow from Rinjani Mount. Narmada Park complex divided into several parts; they are the main gate, jabalkap, twin lake, gate bracelet/paduraksa, mukedes, padmawangi lake, lodge hall, bright hall, patandaan, sakapat buildings, halls bancingah, Pura hump and Pura Lingsar.

After we enter the main gate, there is the lake twin. We can see a gate called the Gate Bracelet or Paduraksa in the southern part. Then there are several buildings among others Sanggah Temple, Hall and Hall Pamerajan Lodge. When we go the the southeast part, there is a gate mukedes page to the page paseran. Here, there are paseran Loji Hall, Lake Padmawangi, Pawedayan, pawargan, Center of Light, and a new building.

We can see the most sacred part in the central courtyard on the top steps. This temple situated on a cliff-steps staircase, was below the valley there are cliffs and lake swimming mermaid child immediately. Besides that, the other things we can enjoy are nine showers (Siwak) which is located on the Segara Anak. People believed that the water that exist in Central petirtaan is able to make people who drank and washed their face with water in it will stay young.

Lorentz National Park


Lorentz National Park is the largest national park in Southeast Asia. It is about 25,000 km2. Lorentz National Park location is in the area Panlai Regency, Jayawijaya Regency, Fak-fak and Merauke Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia. The nearest city from the national Park is Wamena. The forest in this national park is still natural original. It is representative the most complete ecosystem for biodiversity in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.

Lorentz National Park is established on 1997 by the ministry of forestry. It became world heritage site on 1999 by UNESCO.

We can enjoy the mangroves, marine areas, tidal and freshwater swamp forest, lowland and montane rainforest, alpine tundra, and equatorial glaciers. From here, we can see Puncak Jaya, the tallest mountain in Indonesia.

There are still many parts of this national park which haven’t been explored yet. It is certain to contain many species of plants and animals as yet unknown to Western science. The knowledge of the Lorentz biota is also very poor documented.

There are 630 species of birds which have been documented. The number is about 70% of the total number of bird species in Papua. Beside that there are about 123 mammalian species.

There are eight ethnic groups that live here. They are Asmat, Amungme, Dani, Sempan, and Nduga. The number estimation of the population is varying between 6,300 and 10,000. The park’s existence is depending on the local communities. There are several conservations which are working in the Lorentz area.

TANJUNG PUTTING NATIONAL PARK


In Indonesia orangutans is only found in Borneo Island which has many tropical rain forests. The forest is a home for many species.   

Tanjung Putting is one of the national parks in Indonesia where we can see orangutans in their natural habitat. It has become one of the tourism destinations. We can enjoy the jungle wildlife here. The park is home to an amazing array of wildlife including its world famous orangutans. It is also home for monkeys, birds and other wild.

Tanjung Putting National Park is situated on the west side of Central Kalimantan. The only means to reach the Park is by river boat, which is called Klotok. Klotoks are two-storeyed wooden river boats equipped with inboard or outboard motor, and are specially built to navigate through shallow waters and narrow sections of the river. They have a shallow draft and generally measure 12 meters in length by 2.5 meters width.  They normally carry goods or passengers up and down the river.

Tanjung Putting National Park is also home to sun bears, wild boars, clouded leopards, spotted cats, pythons, gibbons, porcupines and Sambar deer. We can see monkeys which may plunge from branches 10 meters or higher into the dark river, sometimes they cross directly in front of the boat.

Nowadays, the existence of orangutans has been threatened by human. The number of orangutans has been decreased. In order to protect them, the government decided to make their home Tanjung Putting as a national park.
